The local guests have headed home while the out of town guests have retired upstairs for the evening. The house has returned to blissful calm. This most special day draws to a close. We have enjoyed yet another Thanksgiving – drawn together in love. For those who gathered today with family and friends we have been reminded of our many
blessings, the freedom to assemble where ever and with whomever we please.

Some of us huddled together in places heated by mechanical systems while others enjoyed the warmth of the sun. Regardless, we were happy to be comfortable while we feasted on family recipes that have been passed down through generations. We gathered together sharing stories and sometimes arguing over our different political, religious or social views; never loosing site of our ability to debate and disagree, knowing that there are many places today where others do not share this freedom.

Today, hopefully many remembered the countless veterans who have sacrificed so much to guarantee these freedoms and those who today are protecting them from faraway places; and more locally the countless first-responders who work tirelessly each day to keep us safe and secure.I am mindful of how precious life and love is. A dear friend successfully weathered a life threatening illness this year while a loved one will head into the coming year battling another.

Today, more so than any other day, I am grateful for the love shared.I am reminded of another friend who works internationally who had to fly over four international borders to receive medical treatment for a serious injury; while I dally to schedule a routine medical appointment that is so convenient that I can repeatedly dismiss its import. I will add accessible health care to the list of things for which I am grateful. While I am at it, I can’t overlook the fact that I am both physically mobile and have means of transport to reach both my doctor’s and dentist’s office. For those of us who have health, this too must be near the top of our list.

We paused in thanks for the abundance and prosperity that is all around us, for the myriad opportunities that we have enjoyed to create the blessed lives that we lead.As this day for gratitude draws to a close, I am filled with a profound appreciation for so many things including the journey of my soul ~ meandering through eternity, expressing its divinity and its creativity. I hope as your day of gratitude draws to a close that you too can pause to reflect on your divine nature and your own eternal journey. In truth, everything else flows from here. . . . . .
